Blackfeet Tribal Fishing Permit/License are available for purchase from Teeples IGA in Browning, Montana on Central Avenue, open from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. Monday-Saturday and 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Sundays.

GENERAL FISHING REGULATIONS

A.  Fishing Methods.

  • No person shall catch fish by snagging, by the use of explosive compounds or any corrosive or narcotic poison, or by use of a gill net or seine.
  • B.  Introduction of Fish.
  • No person shall empty minnow buckets, fish with live minnows or unprocessed fish eggs in the waters of the Reservation.

  • C.  Chumming.
  • No person shall use chopped fish or introduce into any water any food substance or matter that may concentrate or attract fish.

  • D.  Ice Fishing Holes.
  • No person may cut holes of more than twelve (12) inches in diameter for ice fishing.

  • E.  Ice Fishing Houses.
  • No person shall allow an ice fishing house to be frozen in any lake, fail to identify an ice fishing house or have an ice house on a lake after sunset or before sunrise. Ice house label must be attached.

  • F.  Seasons and Limits.
  • Seasons and limits will be determined by regulation.

  • G.   It shall be unlawful to filet or otherwise process any fish in possession at a lake or stream in a manner that would prevent a Game Warden from measuring it.
    H.   Any vehicle falling through the ice shall be subject to environmental assessment of clean up costs and fined.
    I.   No personal shall urinate or deficate within the high water mark of any lake or stream.
    J.   It shall be unlawful to litter. Violators will be prosecuted.
    K.   It shall be unlawful to take or be in possession of Bull Trout (Exception at Duck Lake).
    L.   Mission Lake and Horn Lake shall allow snagging of Kokanee Salmon and have a daily limit of ten (10) Kokanee (any size), and in possession a limit of 20, snagging dates September 1 through December 1.
    M.   Legal measuring method is tip of head to tip of tail (tip to tip).
    N.   Aeration System - some lakes may have aerators - use caution and beware of open water during winter months.

    GAME FISH

    The taking of other than game fish is prohibited.

    All species of the genus Esox (Northern Pike); all species of the family Salmonidae (Char, Trout, Salmon, Grayling and Whitefish); all species of the genus Sander (Saugeye and Walleye); all species of the genus Gadidae; all species of the genus Centrarchidae (Bass).
